fireworks

Happy Birthday America!!

I invited Mom over for supper. I grilled Italian sausage and red potatoes, red and yellow bell peppers, and red onions ... we snarfed it down on the back porch from pie plates (or pie pans) - seemed more "picniky." This, believe it or not, was my first real attempt into grilling. And I did good. I may just do it again. If I can find that automatic match thingamajig. Fooling with matches is not my thing.

Our plan was to load up some chairs in the bed of the truck and head for the urban jungle (UJ) to enjoy the city's fireworks. We hadn't been in quite a while. The trip included a sidetrack by my sisters to see the new Vizla puppies (all 10 of them) who are just getting their eyes open ... awwwww ... way too cute. They had full tummies and were snoozing ...

We boogied on to the UJ and picked a spot about 1/4 mile away from the park where the celebrations were happening ... lots of other humans had the same idea! She brought some Key Lime ice cream and I had the waffle cones ... so we had us a mitey tasty ice keem cone.

I decided not to use the "big gun" (Nikon D90) this time and wanted to see how little sis Nikon Coolpix would do ... who just happens to have a handy dandy setting called "fireworks" ... let's see what this little tootie can do ...

Took me a little while to figger out how to time the exposure to capture different effects. I shot 74 fotos ...

... and somehow pressed this one button (I'd never pressed before while viewing my handiwork) and holy guacamole here was a "quickie" enhance menu where I could fidget with different effects like "vivid," "painting," and "high key" ... so why the hell nawt.

I liked the dramatic "painting" effect ... pretty cool ... a widdle artsy fartsy ... keepers. I think capturing slices of a fireworks display is just incredible fun.

Windupherskirt is baacckk!
